Ah, wildlife - er, augh! Wildlife!

    Or, Die Fledermaus (flat-size production).

Is there a sign on my place legible to rodents that says 'Come in, and taunt the cat with your mere presence'?  I've had four of the four-legged, now one of the winged.  I heard a rustling sound and the cat woke me up (I'd fallen asleep reading, and with the computer and radio on) and left and I thought that it was another mouse (wing-free variety) and thought I would give the cat a little while to get the mouse.  Then the cat comes back in because what I sleepily thought was a 'bird' came into my room and was swooping all about.  For some reason, probably sleep, I didn't immediately think of it as a bat and was wondering why a bird came in at that hour, just before midnight.
I'll spare you the details, just to say that I managed to get it back out again, alive (which pleased me, I didn't want to kill it if I didn't have to, they're useful and eat bugs, plus I didn't want to handle a dead one, or try to take a half-dead one from the cat), after taking out a window screen and, after it was tired from swooping stereotypically, chasing it from the curtain rod and out of the window with a broom.
Whatever next?  A capybara, the world's largest rodent?

They're not only the wrong continent, but wrong hemisphere (South America).  Whew.

    Bats are great.
But thinking I wouldn't really be too keen on finding a capybara swooping around the room. I like to think that I've left those days behind me.
